[mnet-devel] build problems for new servers

Folks:

A nice man offered to run a reliable, powerful server for Mnet. I was
overjoyed and gladly accepted his offer.

Then he tried to install by executing cvsinstall.sh, and this failed because
v0.6 uses Crypto++ 5.0, which doesn't compile with gcc 3.3.1-prerelease.

I told him there were three options:

1. He installs an older version of GCC.

2.  We upgrade v0.6 to Crypto++ 5.1.  Since v0.7 already uses Crypto++ 5.1,
this is probably not too hard. One interesting fact is that v0.6 has several
patches to do things like reduce build time by excluding unused .cxx files,
and to turn on optimizations. v0.7 uses the standard GNUmakefile from the
Crypto++ project, which builds with -O0!

3. He runs v0.7-unstable instead of v0.6 on his server.

At this point, I decided to send to the public mailing list, since I don't
know that much about building v0.7 on different platforms (his is bleeding-edge
SuSE), and anyway I don't have time to work on such things right now.

Regards,

Zooko
