[mnet-devel] whoops -- now it hangs

Whoops -- I see that mnet_new's unit tests now hang up indefinitely.

But I have to go grocery shopping, cart a load of stuff home, and cook dinner, 
so it's up to someone else to either make the system not-hang-up in the face of 
an uncaught exception or else fix all uncaught exceptions in the unit tests.
